Prescription Drugs for Veterans. A 30-day supply of prescription medications costs only $7 through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) if the veteran was honorably discharged, has enrolled, and has been screened by a VA doctor. To qualify, medications must be prescribed and renewed by a VA doctor, but a single set of prescriptions may cover multiple months at $7 per month. There is an annual cap of $840 for veterans in priority categories 2 through 6. Call 1-877-222-VETS.
